NEW YEAR´S MESSAGE - Bishop Seicho Asahi
I wish to extend a Happy New Year to everyone, and pray that 2008, the Year of the Rat, will be a healthy
one for all. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for
your support and encouragement during the past year; and ask again for your continuous support and
cooperation throughout the New Year.
Kobo Daishi made a vow, "As long as space remains, as long as sentient beings remain, until then,
may I also remain and dispel the miseries of the world." He made his aspiration to free all beings
from suffering , and he pledged to remain in this world until all miseries of the world are dispelled.
In the New Year, let us learn and embody the Spirit of Kobo Daishi, and generate the mind of enlightenment
for the benefit of all beings. Peace and happiness will come by practicing this spirit in our daily lives.

END OF YEAR MESSAGE - President F. Nakamura
I wish to extend a resounding THANK YOU to the Koyasan Temple members and friends as we close 2007, a year
of change and transition.
We started out the year with over 3,000 visitors coming to the Temple for prayers and blessings during the 3-day
New Year´s period. In the Spring, we welcomed a new Head Priest (Shukan), Bishop Seicho Asahi. In May, we
had a well-attended retirement testimonial dinner for Bishop Taisen Miyata. The kitchen renovation was finally
completed in August. In September we had another successful fundraiser. Bishop Asahi started
a Taiko group in October as well as began meditation sessions and Buddhist study class. A demonstration of
vegetarian cooking was also conducted.
All have been accomplished because of the strong support and generosity of the Temple members and friends. Let
us all look forward to a rewarding New Year under the guidance of Bishop Seicho Asahi and the blessing of Kobo
Daishi.
