Adult Buddhist Association (ABA)

Women’s Association (Fujin-Kai)

On April 5, 1914, the Women’s Association was inaugurated. The organization’s support in the Temple’s receptions was indispensable, particularly for Shomie-Ku in the spring and O-Bon in the summer. In the 1920’s, the welcome receptions for the Japanese Navy sailors by the Fujin-Kai  helped play an important role in the society of Japanese residents in Los Angeles.

Today, the organization’s role in the Temple’s receptions is still vital. Although the receptions for Shomie-Ku and O-Bon are no longer carried on, Fujin-Kai organizes and provides lunch or refreshment for the (monthly) Family Services.

Other activities:  Fundraisers, Temple clean-up, cooking lessons, and yearly outing

Membership is open to the woman members/affiliates of Koyasan. $5.00 annual dues.

Young Adult Buddhist Association (YABA)

Members of the YABA are actively involved in supporting the Temple services and events as New Year’s, Hoshi-Matsuri, and Shichi-Go-San.

Activities: New Year Get-Together, Pancake Breakfast, Fundraisers, Temple clean-up and Youth Day

Membership is open to members/affiliates of Koyasan who are under 65 years of age.  The organization also serves as an umbrella for the Junior Young Buddhist Association.
