HISTORY

On a very cold evening on November 5, 1931, Reverend Taido Kitagawa, Boy Scout Commisioner Roy E. Uragami, Scoutmaster Sadamu Sam Eijima of the Methodist Church’s Troop 64, and eight Scouts (Kiichi Kazahaya, Susumu Kazahaya, Yoshiro Kimura, Masaharu Nakamura, August Narumi, Asao Shimizu, Wataru Takahashi, and Kei Tanahashi) met in the wooden frame one-story Daishi Mission (later known as the Koyasan Betsuin).  This was the start of the Boy Scout Troop 379 formation.  On February 7, 1932, the troop installation ceremony was held.

On October 22, 2006, the Koyasan Boy Scout Troop 379 celebrated its 75th anniversary and reunion at the Montebello Quiet Cannon with legendary UCLA Basketball Coach, Mr. John Wooden, as guest.
